New design log bunker, a NZ first.

We recently completed the build of this log bunker unit for China Forestry Group in conjunction with Ian Newey logging. The design is the first of its kind in the country and is working extremely well.

The unit is hydraulically driven with remote controls from inside the log loaders. The bed widens and narrows to accommodate the various log lengths which can be anything from 3.2 to 7.9m.
The overall bed is 6m deep x 9m long.

In the past export logs have been fumigated for bugs at the Port or onboard the ships transporting them however a change to legislation now means that any deck cargo must be debarked before loading. The logs are fed through a de-barker at the top and then drop down into the bunker for easy loading onto the ship.
